If you are one of the UKs 7 million unpaid carers, you will welcome the focus of this year’s Back Care Awareness Week (3rd – 8th of October 2016), during which, BackCare, the national back pain charity aims to help the estimated 70% of carers who suffer from back and neck pain and who risk developing chronic pain.
This invisible army of carers saves the UK Government an eye-watering £119 billion each year – more than the entire annual budget for the NHS!
We are not professionally involved in Back Care Awareness Week but want to help publicise this important charity event. This year, the event focuses on:
- Highlighting the problems that back pain can cause, for carers and for all of us
- Raising awareness of the preventative measures that can be taken to reduce the likelihood of carers suffering back pain and musculoskeletal disorders, especially when caring for someone who needs help with the physical tasks of daily life such as getting in and out of a chair, car, bed or bath
- Making everyone aware of the treatment options available to them when back pain strikes
Back Care Awareness Week aims to help everyone (whether involved in care or not), to learn how to have a healthier back. Back care awareness is a topic that Winchester Chiropractor, Max Atkinson is passionate about and he invites anyone suffering from back or neck pain to call Bradford House Chiropractic today on 01962 861188 to make an appointment for an initial assessment. (Please note that we are neither affiliated with, nor endorsed by, the BackCare Charity).
Most back problems arise from a biomechanical cause that can be helped, with Chiropractic adjustments, exercises, help with posture, workplace ergonomics, and learning alternative ways of doing tasks that exacerbate symptoms.
Why Choose Chiropractic?
Good back care begins with prevention. Your Winchester Chiropractor can offer regular ‘wellness’, or ‘maintenance’ appointments. These are invaluable in helping Max to spot those small misalignments or impingements and to put things back into balance before a problem develops. Making room in your schedule for a maintenance appointment can help reduce the risk of developing a disabling bout of back pain.
If back pain does strike, getting prompt treatment will not only help a speedy recovery but also help to prevent the negative consequences of pain that can become chronic.

A Final Word from Max
Back pain is one of the most common conditions treated by Chiropractors.
As holistic primary health care providers, we specialise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of problems arising from affected joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Specific Chiropractic adjustments can help to improve the function and range of movement in joints, relieve pain by reducing muscle spasm and relieving pressure on affected nerves.
The advice, guidance and ongoing care we provide for our patients can help to prevent back problems, reduce the likelihood of a recurrence or of the problem becoming chronic. Call us today on 01962 861188 and find out more about the range of treatment options we can offer.
